PerformWorld was commissioned by Scottish Enterprise Glasgow & the International Financial Services District (IFSD) Glasgow to write a booklet – “A practical guide to setting up and operating a shared service centre” with the aim of attracting greater levels of inward investment in Shared Services to Scotland. The booklet was launched at the 5th annual shared services week event held at Celtic Manor in Newport, Wales in May 2005 and was well received by delegates. In particular we were delighted when some delegates referred to it as "the must have item" at the conference. Copies of the booklet can be obtained by using the link "request information" on our website.

Jonathan Russell, MD of Perform World, was one of the speakers at a conference run by The Shared Services and Business Process Outsourcing Association (SBPOA) held in Copenhagen, Denmark in March 2005. The subject was Best-in-class processes: order to cash - a practical guide to improving receivables. Jonathan also provided an insight into the power of HR performance measurement at the BME Global HR Transformation Conference in Barcelona in June 2005. Copies of the presentations made at each conference are available on request.

Perform World continue to work closely with Scottish Enterprise Glasgow in an advisory role and supported the launch of the Scottish Shared Services Forum, with the first major event held at Atlantic Quay, Glasgow on 17th May 2006. 46 people from both Private and Public sectors with an interest in shared services attended and the event was well received with Tom Bangemann from The Hackett Group and Davide Laghi Shared Services Leader from Iron Mountain delivering excellent informative presentations. The next event will take place on 1st September 2006.

After the event, Perform World were delighted to obtain sponsorship funding for the Forum from Oracle. This has helped us to develop the XLR8 shared services website which aims to provide a wider database of knowledge for Shared Service practitioners including anyone starting out in this direction. Please register at www.xlr8sharedservices.org to access details about the Forum events, to participate in the on-line discussion forum, source knowledge and find out about future events, workshops and training courses.
